HEY...Prospective Students!
This is your opportunity to participate and express yourself in personal, campus, and community art projects if you are a student and unable to enroll in an art class. Art Club meets the last Thursday of every month at 3:05 p.m. in Mrs. Pierson's Middle School Art Room. Students are welcome to start attending anytime during the year! Upcoming events for the 2008 school year include the following:
Campus Arts Exposition (February 2008)
Students and teachers participate in a campus-sponsored all arts "happening." Participation of all art forms is encouraged: theater, prose, music, dance, art, etc. Feel welcome to join us in the art room for this unforgettable, exciting event. Meet others who are interested in art in its various forms. Experience the talents of peers and teachers. Refreshments served. Admission FREE!
Recycling Drive (March 2008)
Students will probe houses and community to gather recyclable materials to be used in improvisational and/or collaborative art projects. Bring found objects and materials to meeting. Projects to be announced.
Community Invite (April 2008)
Students will collaborate with members of the community in a site-specific, local mural. A local coffee shop will donate 8' x 10' interior wall space for this endeavor. Students and community members should submit full-color, 8" x 10" ideas that promote the "Arts & Community" for the mural at the April meeting. Owners of the coffee shop will judge winning idea. Painting of the mural will occur in scheduled increments with Mrs. Pierson, community, and Art Club members.
Library Exhibition (May 2008)
Art Club will participate in an exhibition at the Fair Grove Branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library. This show will be culmination of art production from Art Club events (Fall 2007-Spring 2008). Opening reception to be announced.
